Bridging the Gap Between Consumption and Sustainability
Our Sustainability Efforts
Since we opened our doors in 2016, Birds of Paradise has been on a thoughtful journey to balance the pleasures of consumption with the responsibilities of sustainability. Each decision we make reflects our deep respect for the earth and our commitment to a more sustainable future.
Making Better Choices with Every Scoop
Our gelato cups and spoons are made from sugar cane pulp, upcycling waste from juice extraction. While these cups may not yet be compostable in Singapore, they consume fewer raw materials than traditional paper cups. We believe that every small step counts in reducing our environmental impact.
Breathing New Life into Old Materials
At Birds of Paradise, sustainability is about more than just packaging. We’ve repurposed cherished materials like the pink marble from our Jewel Changi Airport boutique into new dining tables at Mandai Wildlife West. By giving new life to these materials, we honour our past while looking forward to a greener future.
Upcycling for a Greener Future
We’ve transformed botanical waste, such as chrysanthemum, lemon, cucumber, lemongrass, and recovered wood pallets, into a unique, upcycled table top material. This innovative approach opens up new possibilities for the future of design.
Simple Acts, Big Impact
We encourage our guests to take small steps that make a big difference. Bring your own insulated cooler bags for takeaway pints, and join us in reducing waste. We also charge a Green Fee for extra packaging to promote responsible consumption.
A Balanced Approach
At Birds of Paradise, every step towards sustainability is a considered choice. We sort and recycle waste where possible and always seek out better packaging and practices. Our journey is ongoing, and we are constantly exploring new ways to lessen our environmental footprint.
